What is working at the peg?

It’s the traditional, handcrafted method of making jewelry from sheet metal and wire. This term excludes mass production using molds, wax models, and casting. It refers to the small wooden support placed in the semicircular recess of the jeweler’s workbench. This support allows the material to be worked with all the necessary ease for both hands and tools. Without these 15 square centimeters, I can’t do anything!

What is a coping saw?

It’s my favorite tool! Made up of a handle and a support for a thin saw blade secured with two keys, it allows you to tension a very thin saw blade. As you can see in the photo above, it’s used vertically. Since the saw blade can be loosened on one side, I can thread the saw blade through a hole in the material and then retension it. It is with this tool that I can hand-pierce and openwork the symbolic pendants “The Tree of Life with Birds”, “The Star” or “5 Elements”.
